Medicinal plants come into our lives with amazing gifts. Our bodies know in a very deep way that herbs are here to protect and heal us.
Plants can help us to become stronger and more focused, age slower and feel more resilient and energized.
But developing new rituals with herbs in them might seem too daunting. So what are easiest ways to get medicinal plants into your body?
My answer – replace or substitute them for things you do already.
These are three best places, in my opinion
1. Drink them
Select several great tasting plants – some of my favorites include Holy basil, Linden, Nettles, Hibiscus, Rose Hips, Mint, Chamomile, Green tea, Oats. One of my go to places to get these is Mountain Rose Herbs.
Try these:
1. Use them by themselves as a cup of tea as you work
2. Add them to a glass of cold water and infuse for a refreshing hydration
3. Combine them with each other to create unique blends
4. Add to other beverages you consume throughout the day (e.g, smoothies, hot chocolate, golden milk)
2. Eat them
Explore spices and add them to your meals. If heat is not something you tolerate well, remember chili peppers are just one spice. There are many others (like mints [rosemary, thyme, oregano], cinnamon, vanilla, fennel, cumin, garlic, chives) you can add to create interesting aroma, flavor and taste in your food and fill you with huge amount of health-protecting benefits.
Try these:
1. Add herbs and spices to your oatmeal (cinnamon, vanilla, goji berries and other) or savory spices to eggs for breakfast or lunch
2. Add spices to soups, stews and salad dressings
3. Sprinkle cinnamon on desserts and fruit
4. Make special dishes or snacks supercharged with unique combinations of herbs and spices
3. Beautify with them
Use plant-based products to infuse your body in their goodness from inside and out
Try these:
1. Look for a new skin care line made with high quality botanicals
2. Try herbal bath soaks for your body or feet
3. Try skin brushing and apply herbal oils, body creams and salves after bath
4. Massage your head with herbal hair oils before washing your hair
5. Explore several essential oils for their aroma and therapeutic benefit
You see a lot of options here, but I recommend to start with 1 or 2. Look for things that are already easy for you.
When herbs become a part of your life by slowly replacing other less beneficial (or sometimes more harmful) products you’ll appreciate that you take better care of yourself and feel a lot more empowered.
