Aromatherapy and holistic skin care with Mindy Green

Some years back an herbalist friend taught me that you should be able to eat your skincare products. At first I was very confused by the statement, but with time realized that putting clean, natural ingredients on your skin is a very smart recommendation.

In today’s episode my guest, Mindy Green, will share her approach to aromatherapy and holistic skin care.

Mindy is a true pioneer in this field, starting her journey in 1970’s. She worked as a clinical aromatherapist, regulatory consultant, and contributed to research and development of a national company Aveda. Mindy is a true national authority on botanicals, nutrition, essential oils and holistic skin care. Her wellness-industry expertise is complemented by her active, longstanding licensure as an esthetician, herbalist and aromatherapist.

A prolific writer and lecturer, Mindy has authored over 65 published articles on herbs, aromatherapy, skin care, holistic health and integrative care. She is co-author of Aromatherapy, A Complete Guide to the Healing Art; author of Calendula and Natural Perfumes, and has contributed to numerous books on herbs and healing, including two academic texts edited by Andrew Weil, MD.

Mindy believes plants in all their forms create healing, globally and individually.

Whether you are just starting to explore aromatherapy and holistic skin care or have been using it for years, this episode is perfect for you.

FAVORITE QUOTES

“Aroma is a communication system. The molecules found in essential oils are communicating with our cells, providing nutrients and neurochemicals to be released in the body. Use them with reverence for the wisdom they provide.”

“Learn a few oils well. Pick 5 and make a first aid kit out of them. Know a lot about few essential oils and build on that.”

“Use a little bit of herbs every day in your diet. The more you use herbs as foods the less you need them as medicines.”

“Holistic skin care is a part of a holistic lifestyle. You can’t put some essential oils on your skin and continue to eat poorly, not get enough rest and overstress your body.”

“Good health starts from the inside out.”
