Medical Cannabis with Bridget Conry

A little while ago I shared with you an episode on cooking with Cannabis. After receiving quite a bit of feedback I wanted to explore other facets of this topic.

It was very exciting for me to bring to you a colleague and friend, Bridget Conry to do just that. Bridget began her career in New York City as the General Manager of The City Bakery, overseeing a multi-million dollar operation that included two retail outlets, a wholesale bakery and a full service catering company.

From there she held several other important positions in the food industry (such as PR Coordinator/Market Manager for Greenmarket Farmers Markets in NYC, Kitchen Team Leader for the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health and then General Manager/ Co-Creator of Haven Cafe and Bakery in Lenox, MA.)

At the same time, for over 20 years Bridget has been a student of traditional systems of herbal medicine. She has completed certification programs in the therapeutic applications of essential oils through Floracopeia & The Farm to Pharmacy Program at Goldthread Herbal Apothecary, the first herbal CSA in the nation.

She was also the proprietress of Elemental Herbal Apothecary, an herbal clinic & product manufacturer serving her community in Berkshire County, Massachusetts.

Bridget began her career at Champlain Valley Dispensary as the Infusion Kitchen Manager. Within 18 months, she was promoted to Director of Operations, charged with the implementation of the organization’s mission statement and standard operating procedures across five departments: processing, extraction, laboratory testing, infusion kitchen and facilities. Bridget currently serves the organization as the Director of Outreach and Product Development.

I wanted to have a much deeper understanding of medical use of Cannabis. Whether you have used Cannabis medically or recreationally, Bridget shines the light on many important areas and offers important resources to educate yourself better. I know you’ll appreciate this conversation.

FAVORITE QUOTES

“Cannabis really needs to come back into complete herbal apothecary and for many people its the gateway herb. With Cannabis it’s a personal journey, you need to pay attention to yourself to understand what works for you. “

“When using Cannabis medically… people want symptom relief with functionality.”

“THC is intoxicating, CBD is not and it also has the ability to temper THC’s intoxicating effects. There’s a synergy between these two, amplifying the therapeutic effect, making it more analgesic or anti-inflammatory.”

“A patient needs someone who can guide them through the Cannabis formulas, onsets and durations of effects. They should look for a partner to go through the products to find out what works best for them.”

“You should be able to walk into medical dispensary or adult use store and see the same products. The difference is dosing and services.”
